Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

TAVR is a unique way with which our doctors make sure to remove the affected aortic valve with a human valve. The procedure takes place as open-heart surgery. TAVR can also take place surgically.

The aortic valve helps in controlling the blood flow of the heart. However, in the case of aortic stenosis, the aortic valve becomes so stiff that there is a lot of pressure while pumping the blood.

In TAVR, doctors inject sedation followed by fixing an intravenous line-IV in the arm or hand. Afterward, the doctor will place a catheter tube through the femoral artery all the way to the aortic valve. During the replacement, an X-Ray will make sure that it captures the images so that there are no complications.
